Here’s a simple and effective way to spice up your selfies, especially travel selfies (or even if you’re social distancing): Look for a reflection.
For instance, when I was at the famed Sydney Opera House, I could have done the usual selfie thing, trying to poke my head into a shot, fumbling around until my face and the structure wound up in the frame at the same time. Instead, I aimed my camera at a set of large windows and ended up with this:

Or when I was flying out of JFK once and wanted to show people what it was like, again I found some glass:

So the next time you want to take a selfie, try something special and look for a reflecting surface. (As an added bonus, now you can use a real camera to take the shot if you want, and even with your phone you can use the usually-better rear lens.)
