The wild west end of Oahu
Oahu, Hawaii
By Ralph Lyon
The unpopulated western end of Oahu is ideal for hiking and bird watching. It is wild and rugged. Ka’ena Point State Park is an easy three mile hike from the end of paved road on the southeast end. Hawaii monk seals can be seen sunning on the few, small sandy beaches alone the way. Numerous species of birds nest there as well. Take plenty of water and please, please pack out your trash.

This is magnificent! Beautiful composition, and just enough going on to make the photo interesting without detracting from the peaceful sense of isolation. I particularly like the wind-blown wisps in the middle ground.
