[Expired] Wow! Get the Amazing Panasonic FZ1000 for only $500 – Today Only (Amazon Prime Day 2018)

[Update: The deal has expired. Even at full price, though, this is an impressive camera.] I’m not much of a fan of Amazon Prime Day, but here’s a deal that really is worth passing on: My favorite all-in-one camera, the Panasonic FZ1000, is on sale today for only $499, down from the usual price of almost $800! If you’ve been eyeing one of these (and of course you have), now’s the time.

Like all of the Amazon Prime Day deals, it’s only available today.

About J.M. Hoffman

A prolific writer and avid photographer, J.M. Hoffman picked up his first camera when he was eight years old. And even though he abhors a cliche, he never looked back. Acclaimed as a "master raconteur" who writes with a "flair" (Times Literary Supplement of London), Hoffman authored two non-fiction books and contributed to over a dozen others before writing The Warwick Files. He continues to write fiction and non-fiction. In addition to writing and traveling the world lecturing about his books, Hoffman has also directed a dance troupe, taught darkroom technique, and explored Patagonia on horseback. From time to time he can be seen playing table tennis poorly at the WTCC. He lives just north of New York City.

  1. Ok so I bought it.
Please tell me why I should keep it.
This is not a small camera. This is not a Sony RX 100. It’s big. Is it as good? Better?
    Please tell me.
    Thank you!

    1. The Panasonic FZ1000 gives you much more reach: 400mm (equiv.) compared to only 200mm (equiv.) in the latest Sony RX100, the Mark VI. And the RX100 VI costs over $1,000. If you absolutely need something tiny, you might consider the Sony, but all around, if you can live with the size, the FZ1000 is much more flexible and will give you shots that you can’t get with the Sony. And — though this is of course a matter of personal preference — I find the Panasonic easier and more enjoyable to use than the Sony.
